I bought an epoxy tube that cures underwater a while ago, to fix my broken skimmer basket. It's one of those things where two get mixed up. For minor damage, you can often skip the drain and use underwater repair techniques. However, in the case of larger cracks, structural problems, or significant deterioration, draining may be necessary to achieve a proper and durable repair.
Whether your pool is stucco, concrete, or even fiberglass, there are often underwater repair options for small cracks and leaks. To apply pool putty, simply open the cartridge, mix the two putty products (the single-stick formula dispenses the products in 1 tablespoon), and then apply the mixed putty to the crack on the surface of the pool or spa. As with stucco, small cracks and damage in hydraulic cement or gunite pools are usually repaired underwater with an epoxy putty specialized.
